In accordance with NZQA regulations, this qualification is available to NZ or Australian citizens or NZ residents or those who have a work visa whose employers require them to do the course. An NZCMC certificate is available for those who don’t meet these criteria.

Does this course qualify me to be a supervisor?
There are no specified qualifications for supervisors currently in New Zealand. Each professional body has it’s own requirements regarding supervision so if you are a member of a professional body have a look at their website to see what they say. Most say supervisors need to be experienced practitioners who have completed a supervision training but they don’t specify length, level etc. This course has been approved by DAPAANZ and is on their list of approved courses for those wanting to register as a supervisor for drug and alcohol prevention practitioners. Past participants include members of NZAC, SWRB NZ, OTBNZ, PTBNZ, IComPA, DAPAANZ. Nursing Council of NZ.
What qualification does this course provide?
This course has been approved by the NZ Qualifications Authority as a Micro-credential which sits at level 5 on the National Qualifications Framework and provides 5 credits. A micro-credential (as its name suggests) is a short course which provides a credential or qualification that does not involve a long term commitment from the student.
What does the assessment process involve?
The good news about the assessment requirements for this course is that they will all be finished by the end of the course (no hefty essays, exams or post course work to complete!). You need to demonstrate an 80% attendance rate and complete 3 short assignments which involve an oral review of a supplied reading in small groups, the completion of a worksheet on contracting in supervision plus you will run a short supervision session with another participant and engage in some review and reflection against a checklist for effective supervision.
Are there any pre-requisites for this course?
To move in to a supervision role, people usually have qualifications and experience in their own area of professional practice. There are no formal pre-requisites for this course but check with your organisation as to whether you might be eligible for a supervision role prior to enrolling.
What certificate do I get?
On completion of the course and all assessment requirements, you receive a certificate stating the course name, level and date of completion. The course is accredited with NZQA through QED Associates (a Private Training Establishment accredited with NZQA) and the certificate reflects the partnership between QED and the NZ Coaching & Mentoring Centre plus the NZQA approval.
