The Power of Peer Supervision
Peer supervision differs from other forms of supervision in that it doesn’t rely on the presence of a more qualified, identified expert in the process – a supervisor. Peer supervision can ensure that more people have more access to more supervision and this in turn impacts on the quality of service for clients. In one training day participants are introduced to this team based approach to supervision, and a toolkit of processes that enable them to set up and run peer supervision groups that provide high quality supervision for themselves and their colleagues.
This skills based training workshop
- introduces peer supervision as a professional development process for health professionals
- discusses criteria for effective ongoing peer supervision
- introduces the peer supervision toolkit – 7 tools for supervision groups
- provides opportunities for participants to experience the power of peer supervision through small group practice and coaching.
In one training day, participants learn all they need to use the method successfully and are able to run their own supervision groups. The training includes a copy of the Power of Peer Supervision Booklet for each participant.
